The last Spanish Observatory of Wine Market, which collects annual data regarding worldwide export of wine, left as main conclusion that Spain has become the largest exporter of wine in the world, mainly due to its remarkable increase in exports of bulk wine. However, only in volume, not in turnover.

In general terms wine exports worldwide increased slightly to stand at 25.623 million euros (surpassing the 100 million hectoliters barrier). Figures which merely denote a significant improvement over data late June. The bad news is still the average price, which keeps on falling down.

With respect to other wine producers, Italy has managed to increase its turnover thanks to sparkling exports, while France was saved from a greater fall thanks to its champagne. In terms of volume, Spain is in the lead with 21.7 million hectoliters compared to 20.4 million in Italy.
