Guatemalan rum, sustainability at its best.
Guatemalan rum is recognized worldwide for its high quality, tradition and distinctive flavor, produced exclusively with virgin sugar cane honey with no added sugars. This rum is made from sugarcane grown in unique lands of Guatemala, especially in the region of the Protected Designation of Origin located in the South Coast of the country, in departments such as Retalhuleu and Suchitepéquez.
The production process includes fermentation with its own natural yeasts, distillation and special aging at more than 2,300 meters above sea level in white oak barrels, some previously filled with different types of wine, which adds complexity and character to the rum. In addition, a dynamic Solera aging system is used that blends rums of different ages to ensure consistency and quality.
Guatemalan rums are classified according to their aging as young (minimum 1 year), aged (minimum 2 years), special aged (minimum 5 years) and extra aged (minimum 7 years).
Guatemala was the first country in America to obtain the Protected Designation of Origin for its rum, and its rums are considered the first sustainable rums in the world, with a production chain that takes care from the cultivation of the cane to bottling, guaranteeing a high quality product and respect for the environment.
In summary, Guatemalan rum is a premium product, made with high quality raw materials, traditional and modern aging methods, internationally recognized for its complex flavor and sustainability.
